For {HAL_PIXEL_FORMAT_Y_16, HAL_DATASPACE_DEPTH}, use the 3 MSBs for confidence. For {HAL_PIXEL_FORMAT_BLOB, HAL_DATASPACE_DEPTH}, add a 4th float value for confidence.
